Alberto Büll da Silva


Alberto Büll joined Ulhôa Canto in 2013 and became a partner in 2019. He graduated from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo – PUC/SP in 2003, and obtained an MBA degree in Business Administration, Trade and International Transactions from Fundação Instituto de Administração in 2006, as well as an MBA degree in Strategic Management and Business Administration from Université Pierre Mendès France (currently, Université Grenobles Alpes) in 2007. Alberto concentrates his practice on the power sector, infrastructure, and project finance. He advises power sector agents and investors on myriad regulatory matters (including administrative litigation before ANEEL and state agencies), power sector auctions, mergers and acquisitions, project development, and financings. He also has extensive project finance, project development or M&A experience across a variety of industries, including the power sector (hydroelectric, thermal, wind, and solar power projects), ports, transportation, public lighting, and sanitation. Alberto has also advised clients on a broad range of finance and investment matters, including corporate finance transactions, equity and debt offerings, investments in regulated funds, restructuring and refinancing transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions both in regulated and non-regulated sectors.

The Legal 500 Latin America has acknowledged Alberto as a “next generation lawyer” in the category “Energy and Natural Resources: Electricity” in Brazil for two consecutive years, in 2017 and 2018.

Alberto was an international associate at the São Paulo and New York offices of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP between 2010 and 2011.

He has been a member of São Paulo Chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association since 2003 and of the International Bar Association since 2016. He has also been a member of the Infrastructure, Regulation and Competition Committee of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo since 2017. His native language is Portuguese. He is fluent in English and has full working proficiency in Spanish and limited working proficiency in French.
