Christian Clarke de Ulhôa Canto joined Ulhôa Canto in 1994 and became a partner in 2007. He graduated from Universidade Cândido Mendes – UCAM in 1993.
He was a foreign associate at renowned Shearman & Sterling, in New York City, during year 1997 at the corporate practice.
His practice focuses mainly on tax law, with emphasis on joint ventures incorporation and corporate groups restructuring, including merger, amalgamation, spin-off, acquisitions and sale of privately and publicly-held companies.
In 2008, he was general rapporteur at the 62nd Congress of the International Fiscal Association – IFA, which took place in Brussels, for the topic “New tendencies in tax treatment of cross-border interest of corporations.”
He has been a member of the Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo Chapters, since 1994 and 2007, respectively. He is also a member of the International Fiscal Association – IFA, since 2006 and of the Associação Brasileira de Direito Financeiro – ABDF, since 2006. His native language is Portuguese and he is fluent in English.
