Isabel Lustosa

Isabel Lustosa joined Ulhôa Canto in 1997 and became a partner in 2005. She graduated from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UERJ in 1992 and received a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School in 1996. Her practice focuses mainly on the power sector, and she has extensive experience in regulatory matters, administrative and judicial litigation, arbitration, biddings procedures, projects (including project finance) and mergers and acquisitions in the industry.

Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America have ranked the team led by Isabel Lustosa in Band 1 in every year since these publications started ranking law firms with power sector practices. These renowned publications currently rate Isabel Lustosa as a Star Individual in the power sector category. The excellence of her power sector practice has often been recognized by many other national and international publications as well (such as Latin Lawyer, The Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal, and Análise Advocacia).

She was a foreign associate at Cleary Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York, United States, between 1996 and 1997, and is the author of several articles and participates as a speaker in several conferences and seminars on the power sector.

She was admitted to the Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo Chapters of the Brazilian Bar Association in 1992 and 1997, respectively, and to the New York Bar Association in 1997. Her native language is Portuguese, and she is fluent in English and French.
